The Hell if I Know

Out on the city streets
Everyone that I meet
Already knows my name
But I can’t say the same

’Cuz every day I wake
And all the names have been erased
And everyone I’ve met
Fades away into the sunset

I can’t recall
Knowing you, but knowing me
I might be wrong
But it don’t ring a bell to me
It’s been so long
Since I could place a familiar face
Where it belongs

While all this time flies by
No one bats an eye
Ants build their colony
Bees buzz ’round their hive

The sun beats down on me
A magnifying glass in the sky
Searching for signs of life
Among the the monuments to who knows why

The hell if I know
